Imagine the excitement in a classroom as qualified presenters, dressed in authentic 18th Century uniforms and bringing period exhibits from old English coins to Flintlock Muskets, step in and present an interactive journey into the Colonial Period, the Revolutionary War, and the founding of our nation.
The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Patriot Chest Program is a 20 to 30 minute interactive presentation, intended to complement Elementary and Middle School lesson plans on the Revolutionary War and Colonial Period of American History. The program’s purpose is to bring that history alive, while providing students with a sense of the times and appreciation of the Patriot men and women who founded our nation.
The Signers Chapter, SAR, can provide qualified members dressed in period-correct 18th Century uniforms for classroom hands-on history classroom programs. Our knowledgeable presenters can spark student interest by letting the students experience what it was like during the Colonial period. Presenters use “Patriot Chest” teaching aids such as reproduction period items like eyeglasses, documents, colonial eating utensils, quills, plates, games, toys, and period clothing.
Students will receive a short introduction about the American War for Independence by the presenter and a description of 18th-century clothing and accoutrements. This interactive program on the colonial period will engage students who will be able to see and feel history and ask questions about our nation’s founding era.
